Sugar Creek Hollow Sensational Saturday challenge

Today at Sugar Creek Hollow we were challenged to make our own faux wood for a card or project.  I decided to make a wood fence and stand the adorable Sunny Snow Angel in front of it.

I made my faux wood by starting with a piece of yellow card stock.  I dragged different shades of brown pigment inks across it until I got a color that I liked.  I then placed it face down on a mouse pad and made knots and dashes with an embossing tool.  When I flipped it back over I ran a black pigment pad across and it highlight those parts of the wood and made them really stand out.  Lastly I added Rock Candy Distress paint over to give it the crackled look.  On Sunny's face I have used dimensional paint to make it look like real coal and a carrot.  Her wings have microfine glitter on them and her halo was made with gold Stickles.  The snow mounds are cut with a Sizzix yellow die and then I used white Fun Flock on them.

Be sure to check out the rest of the design team's creations here.
We'd love to see what faux wood you can come up with so please play along with our challenge.  Don't have a SCH image yet?  Try some from the freebie section.  There are some gorgeous choices.  You'll be hooked instantly!

Your fence is pure genious-how clever of you to knot and grain it like that! I love the snow/ice dripping down the fence too! This is such a fun winter scene with so many thoughtfully created details which is what makes you a real pro in creating art, not just a card!
Hugs,
Sharon
