Tonight We Fly from Art Impressions

 Hello Ai fans!
Who is a fan of all things spooky like I am?
I start work back at school today so for me, summer is officially over and fall is here.
I was inspired by a black lacy butterfly adorned with jewels in the Michael's Halloween Dept. and came up with this card.

I used lots of sets from Art Impressions to create my card and you can find everything linked below.
The matte for the butterfly was made using the double stitched hexagons. The butterfly is from the Gift Card Pocket Dies.

I used other things that "fly" on my card too. The raven, bats, web and spider are from the Halloween Front and Back Fence set. Although spiders don't technically fly, if you Google "flying spiders," you'll see plenty of them. Eek and GAG!

Tonight We Fly is from the Halloween Sentiments Set and it's stamped on a banner from the Portfolio Dies Set.

One last thing...paint.
I used the Winsor & Newton Gold paint to paint some cardstock that I then cut a matte for using the butterfly to trace. I wanted his wings to really pop so I added the gold under them. I also used Dr. Ph Martin's Bleed Proof White to paint the silk strand that the spider is dangling from.

Elegant Embossed Sympathy Card

My friend lost her mother recently and I made this card for her.
I like the pastel color palette on this one.

Christmas Snowflakes and Wedding Flowers

If you know me at all then you know how much I love embossing folders!
I was recently enjoying organizing mine and decided to
pull a few out and have some fun with them.

My first card is a Christmas card with embossed snowflakes and some holly.

My second card is a wedding card. I have a December
wedding this year and I'm starting to get some ideas for it.

The bow and heart are from Art Impressions.

Butterfly Wishes

 Hello and happy Wednesday!

I have less than a week left of summer vacation and then it's back to work at school.

I'm always so sad over less craft time.

Today I'm sharing two elegant cards. One is a bridal shower or wedding card and the other is a thinking of you/inspirational card.

It always amazes me what a few dies and a little embossing can do for a card.

These are for no one in particular. Sometimes I just get in the mood to make something pretty.

The beautiful butterfly die is from 5811 – Gift Card Pocket Dies and the sentiment on the green card is from 5949 – Encouragement Sentiments Set.

A few words so that someday when I'm trying to find these cards they'll pop up...

Let's Hit the Slopes from Art Impressions

 Hello Ai fans!

Here is my 2nd card for the current Sports & Leisure challenge.
This one is a little different for me. I watercolored some parts and used Copic markers for some of it. The skier and deer were done with Tombow and Marvy markers and water. The mountains, sky and chalet are Copic colored. The snow was done using Dr. Ph Martin's Bleed Proof White Paint.

Let it Snow was stamped with Shadow Grey Archival ink as were the mountains and Winding Scene.
The chalet was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I penciled in areas where the snow covered the stamped lines and to add some texture and shading to the mountains.

We hope you'll join us for the challenge and maybe you'll win a free stamp set.

Copics used:
E04, E43, C00, C0, C1, N2, B0000, B000, B01, B41, BV23

Twin Tone Markers: Black

Marvy Markers:
75 Sky Blue

Birdie Betty is Swingin' Through Retirement!

 Hello Ai fans!

I hope you're all enjoying our Sports and Leisure challenge!

For this challenge, I chose to use Birdie Betty.

She's one of the new Ai People that were released in July.

The designer paper is from 6072 – Father’s Day Paper Pack.

Her earrings and glasses were done with my Signo Pigment Ink Gel Pen – Gold.

The sentiments were stamped on 5726 – Nested Circle Dies and a banner from 5952 – Portfolio Template Die Set.

It was the Ai People (aka Golden Oldies back then) that first drew me to Art Impressions. I'm thrilled that Bonnie continues to add more of these fun characters all these years later.

Betty's card was cut using 5463 – Slimline Dies Set.

There are fun paper packs to coordinate with all of the new ladies.
Birdie Betty goes with this pack.

If you or someone you know is a fan of GOLF, check out this section.

Santa Puppets from Art Impressions

 Hello Ai fans!

I just absolutely LOVE the entire Art Impressions Puppet Series!

I made my two puppet cards for the current Stitches & Scallops challenge.

My stitched rectangle and little zig zag stitches make my card qualify for the challenge.

My little sack is actually the Santa head.
It doubles nicely as a perfect little bag for all the toys.

I wanted to make my first Santa a more "fun" Santa and this one is a more traditional St. Nick.
I used two little Diamond Dots for his eyes.

You still have about a day and a half left to enter the challenge. If you can't make that deadline, be sure to check in on the blog after noon EST for the new challenge.

Snowman Puppets from Art Impressions

 Hello Ai fans!

Our latest challenge at Art Impressions is Stitches or Scallops.
We're challenging you to use your stitched or scalloped dies, stamps, hand-drawn stitches, embellishments or sewing machine to create something with stitching or scallops on it.

Today, I have two different snowman cards for you.

My first card is an arched, aqua card.

I used a stitched banner die, little stitches on the arch
and some hand-drawn stitches on his little scarf.

I used Liquid Applique on his hat to puff up the "fur." It looked pretty yellow, maybe because mine is so old, so I painted it with Dr. Ph Martin's Bleed Proof White Paint.

For my second card I used stitched slimline dies, a stitched banner, little stitches on the sides and a scalloped border. I love these little puppet dies.

Isn't this little guy the cutest? Look at that bright smile.
I used the hat band from the Santa Puppet to create a
hat band for this hat and a belt on the aqua card.

Let Them Eat Cake!

Hello Ai fans!

You have about 24 hours left to enter into the Let Them Eat Cake challenge for your chance to win a free stamp set from Art Impression.

For my card, I went with a patriotic color scheme since it's July.

I used the new gold paint to add little dots to the inside of the flowers, flames, the two frames and the cake stand. I also spattered some Dr. Ph Martin's on the embossed panel as well.
