Congratulations! It's a Muggle!

Hello Harry Potter fans!

One of my co-workers is expecting her first baby.
It's a GIRL and she's a huge Harry Potter fan!

The owl was printed from the internet as was the Marauder's Map.
I then fussy cut the owl and used an old Sizzix die called Parchment to cut the map out.

Muggle was spelled out using
Art Impressions 5562 – Journal Letter Die Set.

I Brake for Bellatrix!

Hello and happy Saturday!

Today I'm sharing a super fun card with you.  I had a co-worker order a birthday card for her daughter's birthday.  She loves Harry Potter and especially Bellatrix Lestrange!  I couldn't wait to get started!

Don't forget...you can always save 10% off your IBFS purchase with my gift code...

SAVE10RENEE
It never expires and can be used over and over again.

Her only request was that it say "for my daughter" even if I had to print it on my computer.  Then I remembered that I Brake for Stamps has almost that exact verse but PRETTY!  I used ...

and

The front has a cut out so you can see Bella on the inside.

When you open it you can see her Azkaban inmate # and her in all her black lace.

The photo is a little dull.  It was tough to capture all the different shades of black in a photo and create the bold real life image I could see.

On the backside of the card I left an area for my friend to personalize the card for her daughter.

I tried to sketch her to look as much like Bellatrix as I could.  Truth be told... I think she looks a little like Roseann!  LOL!!  I know a lot of people who think she's pretty evil too so I guess it's all good.  Personally, I'm looking forward to the reboot of her show.

Happy Birthday Tara!

Hello and happy Tuesday!

My niece Tara just became a teenager and she loves Harry Potter.
I wanted to celebrate her birthday by giving her a memorable card.

I used my ancient set of Sizzix doll dies to make the H.P. character.  It was supposed to be Hermione but the doll face is so round that it really doesn't look like her at all.  I think it's still cute though.

I used a piece of vellum behind the window to make it look like stained glass.
I used a flickering tea light behind it.

Doesn't the light make it look like it could be a real room at Hogwarts?

Here's a close up of Hermione and Crookshanks.

I added a selection of potions on the window sill too.  We all know how important those are to the students at Hogwarts.

Happy Birthday Tara!!

Harry Potter Happy First Birthday!

Hello and happy Wednesday!!

Today I'm sharing a card that I'm over the moon about!
I don't usually brag over a card.  Actually I'm not even bragging.  I look at it and see a LOT of flaws...and yet I still love it!

I love Harry Potter.
I was so excited when I had a request for a 1st birthday card for a family that loves the Potter series as well.

I wasn't sure what I wanted to do when I received the request.  I thought on it for  a while and decided I wanted to make my own Harry. (I don't have a H.P. stamp)  This actually got me very excited because I haven't used my Sizzix Dress Up Dolls in YEARS!  I really need to get them out more.  They may be "old" but they're still adorable!  I drew his face on and colored all his clothes to match the Gryffindor uniform.

The torch and flame were improvised from other dies.  The torch bottom is the bottom of a Sizzix lantern and the flame is from the campfire in the same set.
The broom is also the flame that I cut up and turned upside down to look like the bristles.

I also made the card for this child's baby shower last year.
You can find the info HERE.

Cards to Die For challenge from Art Impressions!

Hello Ai fans!

Today is an exciting day at Art Impressions!
They're releasing several new dies and stamps.

There's also a new challenge starting over on the blog.

One of the projects I created uses the new Cat and Owl Placecard Set 4805.

My little owl may look familiar to some of you...It's Hedwig, (or my version of...) Harry Potter's owl.  My friend is reading the entire book series for the first time and she wants to have a HP themed party to celebrate when she's finished.

I told her I would help her make up some of these cute little guys with different spells from Harry Potter on the name card.

And...since Halloween will be here before you know it I also made a little cat for that occasion.

Normally his tail doesn't show from the front but in this case I wanted it to.  I took and trimmed a piece of paper to the same size as the tail base and glued it on.  I think it looks cute peeking around the front.

My last project was a card using the wonderful new Snowflake Dies 4804.
These worked phenomenally!  Such a clean cut and I used thick cardstock!  So much easier than owning all those different punches and so easy to store!  No big, bulky punches.

I really wanted to showcase the snowflakes so I put them on acetate to make it look like they were really falling.

On the inside I used
G4169 – Warm your Heart
and
4511 – Snowman Note-able

If you look hard you can see that I added some Wink of Stella on the flakes before adding some flat pack rhinestones to some of them.

See how they just float on the acetate.  (Which by the way was packaging from one of my new Ai sets)  I always save all acetate from packaging for future uses.

Copics used:

Owl: C00, C3, C5
Cat: E30 E31, E40
Card: R46, R59, YG17, YG67
