Sugar Creek Hollow Vintage Thank You

Welcome to another Sensational Saturday at Sugar Creek Hollow and the last one for 2011 as our designers are going to take a well-earned break until the New Year. Our challenge to you this week is to make vintage, shabby chic or primitive THANK YOU cards.

You have until Friday, December 23rd to submit up to 3 Thank You entries, which will not only put you in the running for our weekly prizes but for our Christmas Blog Candy.

This week one random winner will receive a digi of our choice and a winner's badge to display. In addition, the Design Team will choose one project as Card of the Week and the creator will receive a badge and will be in the running for a Guest Designer spot. The winner of the blog candy will be selected on Christmas Eve.

We want to thank all of you for supporting us this year and to send our best wishes for a Happy Holidays - enjoy the time with your family and friends. Be sure to come back to see us on January 7th for the first challenge of 2012 as we have some great ones lined up for you.

I will be scaling back a bit due to so many family obligations.
I absolutely did not want to quit this team because I love everyone
involved and love creating in the vintage style so I'm grateful to
Tracy for letting me stay on as a "featured designer".  I will
be participating in all of the trash to treasure challenges as
well as any others I can find time for. (thank you Cec!)

I think frogs are lucky!

This little frog from Mel Jens has been very lucky for me.  I just found out that my Party Time Tuesdays card  was the top pick out of 145 entries over at Creative Craft World Challenge Blog!  I'm so excited.  This made my night.  I'd like to thank everyone there for this honor. I'd also like to thank Stamping Boutique for their generous prize.

I had a couple of challenge wins last week.  One with my Frog card and one with my Bunny card.  It was a big week for the animals I guess!  Thanks to Kaboodle Doodles Challenge Blog and Pink Cat Studios for their generous prize and also Raise the Bar for having me as a future guest designer.

They say it's your birthday!

I had a request for a Beatles birthday card and I'm so glad because this was SO much fun to make!  All of the images are just clip art that I printed.  The only stamping is the phrase inside which is from Stampin' Up.

The record and label were separate.  I found the birthday label and cut it out to fit on a record from another piece of clip art.

Inside I used some individual shots and a one of Ringo at his drums.

I've entered this card in the following challenges:

Card makings:
Clip art
Cuttlebug embossing folder
EK Success: Le Symphony border punch
Spellbinders: Label One, Snowflake Pendant (inside of record label)
Stampin' Up: Birthday Sentiment, Taken with Teal paper & Ink

Bird loving snowman MMSC83

I'm planning on entering all three sketch challenges this month over at Midnight Madness but for now I just have this one finished.  I've been dragging out a bunch of my old PSX stamps lately.  I wish they hadn't gone out of business but I have enough of them to keep me busy for a very long time!  They have the best detail in their images.  I think this little nature loving snowman is so sweet.

I've entered this card in the following challenges...

For my star I took two punches that I punched out of white paper to make it a little bit sturdier.  Next I brushed on a triple thick glaze and then I sprinkled chunky diamond dust glitter all over it.  The glaze really helps adhere the glitter so that you don't have a mess when people handle the card.  (pardon the glue under the metal dots...I'm always too impatient to wait for glue to dry when I take my photos.)

Card makings:
PSX: snowman
Star punch
Spellbinders: border die, circle dies, flower dies
metal hot fix dots
diamond dust glitter
copic markers
white colored pencil

Hark the Herald Angels Sing

I had a lot of fun planning out this card.  I've had the angel and sentiment for quite some time but only now did I think to print out some sheet music for that song to go along with it.  I changed the color of the SM from black to brown so that it would match my color scheme better.  I sponged some Tim Holtz distress inks (antique linen) on the paper to give it an aged look.  I also inked some brown pigment ink on the embossed portion of the frame to really make them stand out.

My flower is not only a flower.  I also used two snowflake punches and layered them between the prima paper flowers.

I've used a gold and silver paint pen on the hearts and stars and to make her gown shimmer I have used Stickles Icicle. I'm such a girl...the more sparkle the better!

I've entered this card in the following challenges...

Card makings:
PSX: Angel
Lake O: Hark the Herald sentiment (Don't worry...I've never heard of them either)
Stickles: Icicle
Gold & Silver paint pen
Martha Stewart & EK Success: snowflake punches
Prima paper flowers
Satin ribbon
Pearls
Spellbinders: frame
Sheet music (from internet)
glittered brad
lace

Pink Passion!

This card is not your traditional holiday card but I couldn't resist trying these stamps in pink.  I love how they turned out!  These are going to be holiday cards but they certainly could be used for other occasions such as baby girl, birthday etc.  I have used two stamps from Sugar Creek Hollow.  I used the Blue Plate Special and Christmas Plaque.  If you look at how these stamps started out and then how the ended up on the card you can see how versatile digi stamps are.  Here is my card...

and this is how the stamps look when you purchase them...

I have used the Christmas Plaque for the background/base of the card and two of the Blue Plate Special plates are in the center.

I am entering this card in the following challenges...

Charisma Cardz Challenges:  One for the girls
Cute Card Thursday: Blast from the past (Anything but a square June 10, 2010)

Happy Birthday... Pretty ~but humorous

One of the teachers at school has a birthday next week and I wanted to make her something pretty yet humorous since that's sort of the way she is.  I decided to do 3 panels across and make the flower in the center my focal point.  I layered 3 floral stamps and placed dimensional foam in between to pop them up.  They're highlighted with Crystal Stickles.  Then I took a branch punch and punched some black leaves which are painted with Gunmetal Stickles.  The humorous part is the phrase inside.

I will be entering this card in the Party Time Tuesday challenge.

Card Makings:
Flower stamps: Stampendous
Happy Birthday: Cornish Heritage Farms
Ginger Rogers: Inkadinkado
Crystal Stickles
Martha Stewart Border Punch
Branch punch
