Livin' that Lake Life! from Art Impressions

Serenity is found when you escape to your favorite place.

My father-in-law has been having a bit of a rough time lately.
His happy place was always the lake where he built
a home for his family in the 1980's.
For the past 20+ years we've rented a cottage on that lake so he could "come home" each summer.  No one rents their cottage anymore and he can no longer travel from Florida so it's the end of an era.

I used 5093 – Dock Circlet MTF and 5064 – Circle Double Stitched Dies.

I made him a card that hopefully brought back some happy memories for him.

He's a retired "IBMer" and decided it was worth an hour commute each way Monday through Friday to raise his family on a peaceful, serene lake.  I jumped outside my comfort zone and watercolored this image.  I didn't do it the Art Impressions Way but I did use Tombow Markers.

Tombows used:
856, 679, 528, 158, 126, 526, 992, #4 Brush

As a bonus,  I also have a card that I made to thank my online friend Ruthan Plant who has sent me several, wonderful, cards and gifts over the past few years!

I used a retired Sailboat exclusive (one of her favorites) along with dies from the 5325 – Sail Mini Dies.

Rustic Elk card

Hello Ai fans and Happy Birthday America!

The current challenge over at Art Impressions is Rustic Roundup.

I chose to use the beautiful 5174 – Elk Circlet MTF.

The circlets are trifold cards and I chose to use it in a way I never have before.

The problem was I couldn't decide which panel I wanted to be on the front.
I like the red panel and the beige panel on top.  I guess it will be for the recipient to decide how they like it best.

This is the 3rd panel on the inside. I left room to jot a personal note on the left side of the circle.

We don't have elk where I live but my husband is a member of the Elks club in our area.  They're a wonderful organization of people who do volunteer work in our community.

This elk is so majestic.  I love this set so much.

New Art Impressions Circlets!!

Hello Ai fans!

It's week two of the Layer It Up challenge over at Art Impressions and I'm sharing my submission.

I used the new 5275 – Tea Circlet MTF.
The point of the challenge was to add layers.  Including the card base my front has 9 layers!  The Tea Circlet layers are popped up on foam to give the image a 3-D effect.

I cut the circles out with Stitched Circle Dies.

Since you can only see a small portion of the 3rd layer in my Circlet I decided to make and easel card and use the largest image with the words on the inside as well.  This way can can see the entire beautiful scene.

There are so many beautiful sets in this series.
They can be found here...
and

The set comes with dies to cut the little windows so that you can see part of the next layer behind it.  Kind of like a sneak preview!

Here you can see the inside better.  What a sweet set.

Pasture Circlet from Art Impressions

Hello Ai fans!!

Today I'm sharing 5092 – Pasture Circlet MTF.

I recently bought a fabric denim paper pad and a burlap paper pad and have been anxious to use them.

I was worried about cutting through 3 layers of paper, the denim and the burlap and still keeping them all lined up properly so I didn't do the traditional tryfold card the way these are meant to be used.  I cut them all and then stacked them with foam tape and adhered them to the front of the card.

I used my Arteza brush pens to color it.

Art Impressions Gardening Circlet Tag

Hello Ai fans!

It's the second week of the tags or ornaments challenge over at Art Impressions so I'm sharing what I made using the new 5172 – Gardening Circlet MTF.

These new Circlets are some of my favorites!  You can do so many different things with them.

I think at some point I want to create a sort of shadow box with these.

Cozy Cottage Circlet from Art Impressions

Hello Ai fans!

Art Impressions just released a new bunch of circlets so in honor of that I decided to break out one from the last release that I hadn't used yet.
My card goes along with the latest challenge too...stripes and circles.

This one is called

These sets are designed to be trifold cards.  You can accomplish that in many different ways.  For mine I made the first two panels both open on the left to reveal panel 3 on the inside.

I used
to cut out each circle.

This is the second layer.

Here's the inside which you can partially see when it's all closed.

These sets are so much fun!

New Lighthouse Circlet from Art Impressions

Hello Ai fans!  Today I'm sharing a new set from one of my favorite series at Art Impression...the Circlet MTFs.

The new set I'm featuring is called Lighthouse Circlet MTF

These sets are made to have 3 panels.  Each time you open one it reveals a new panel.

You can stretch the set even further by using them individually on a card if you don't have time to make an elaborate trifold.

Join us at Art Impressions for the latest challenge.
They're looking for circles or something round.
